Michael Novogratz (born November 26, 1964) is an American founder and cryptocurrency investor formerly associated with Fortress Investment Group as a partner and the group president.
He was a principal and member of the board of directors at Goldman Sachs, one of the world’s leading global investment banking, securities, and investment management firms.
Michael Novogratz is the founder and current CEO of Galaxy Digital. Galaxy Digital is a crypto investment firm that offers institutions and individuals a wide range of financial solutions spanning the ecosystem of cryptocurrencies and digital assets.

As of August 2023, Michael’s net worth was between $1.5 to $2.5 billion, a significant dip from his previous net worth of around $8.5 billion during the last crypto bull season. Michael made $250 million from crypto between 2016 and 2017.
Many sources believe that his net worth dipped in 2022 from $8.5 to $2.5 billion because of the Terra Luna crash due to the de-pegging of the ecosystem’s stablecoin, UST.
Michael Novogratz’s Early Life
Michael was raised in Alexandria, Virginia.
He is the third child of seven children of Robert, Sr. Novogratz, who was a West Point football lineman and the 1958 Knute Rockne Award (best lineman) winner.
He attended Fort Hunt High School and has a passion for wrestling. Before serving as Princeton Wrestling captain, he was the Virginia high school wrestling runner-up. Michael was first-team All-Ivy League in both 1986 and 1987.
Michael qualified for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) wrestling championships in 1986 and 1987. At the NCAA wrestling championships 1987, he made it to the round of 16 in the winners’ bracket but was eliminated from the consolation bracket in the round of 12.
Novogratz earned his BA in economics at Princeton University, where he put his wife on a blind date set up by his friends.

Michael Novogratz is married to Dora Sukey Caceres, and they have four children:
Gabriela, Anna, Christian, and Narciso Novogratz.
Sukey is currently the Director of The Kitchen, an organization that helps support innovative artists in New York City by providing exhibition and performance opportunities.
In her fight against domestic violence, Sukey is also the Director of Joyful Heart Foundation. This organization helps fight against sexual assault, domestic violence, and child abuse.

In 2006, Michael Novogratz bought Robert De Niro’s $12.25 million duplex in Manhattan’s Tribeca neighborhood. When he moved into De Niro’s former residence, Mickey Rourke moved into Novogratz’s former Meatpacking district residence.
They also own a house in Amagansett, outside New York City.
Michael’s Bitcoin and Luna Tattoo
At a cryptocurrency conference in 2022, Novogratz boasted that he was the “only guy in the world that’s got both a Bitcoin tattoo and a Luna tattoo.”
He also made a tweet confirming his take in the Terra Luna ecosystem.
However, after the Terra Luna crash triggered by the de-pegging of the Terra ecosystem’s stablecoin UST, Michael wrote an open letter and said his Luna Tattoo would constantly remind him that venture investing requires humility.
He also said the tattoo will be a constant reminder that as an investor, it’s essential to “keep a diversified portfolio, take profits along the way, have a risk management framework, and understand that all investments happen in a macro framework.”
